Australian Wallaby Jersey. Dark green with yellow # 9 on the back. With Australian Coat of Arms on breast and 1955 embroidered below that. These jerseys rarely come on the market. This is the # 9 jersey from the 1955 Wallaby Tour to New Zealand. Made by Mick Simmons, it is a size 40. (With 60% wool and 40% cotton these are certainly different from current 'temex' jerseys) Both cuffs have a small amount of silverfish damage. The # 9 was the tour number in 1955 for winger Garth Jones. Garth played in all three tests on the tour including the 8-3 win in the final test in Wellington. Garth from GPS Old boys in Brisbane, represented QLD and played 12 tests for Australia from 1952 to 1956. He toured South Africa in 1953 and New Zealand in 1955 playing his final test in Sydney against the Springboks in 1956. Previously auctioned Legends Auctions Online 12 -031 in February 2005. Comes with an SMA COA.
