South African cap worn in the 1966-67 series by Graeme Pollock. The cap bears the Springbok emblem and 'SA 1966-67' embroidered underneath. The cap is good condition and has 4 - 5 small holes, inside lining has some staining and tears. Made by Foster London. The cap is a size 7 and 1/8th. Graeme was Dave Rennebergs first Test wicket (out caught for 5 in the first innings) hence the reason the two players swapped caps. In this 5 Test series Graeme scored 537 runs at an average of 76.71, with a high score of 209. Graeme's Test career of just 23 matches was curt short by international bans - his batting average remains an impressive 60.97! Graeme is one of the greats of the game - scoring his maiden First Class ton at 16 and Test Ton at just 19 years of age. In 2009 at the South Africa v Australia Test, Graeme was awarded his ICC "Hall of Fame" Cap. Comes with a signed Statutory Declaration by David, "I swapped this South African cricket cap for a "'Baggy Green" with Graeme Pollock at Port Elizabeth on 28.2.1967" |
