An Australian representative Cap awarded for the 1919 Australian Rugby league Tour to New Zealand.
The cap was made by J. Pearson, 21 King Street, Sydney and is in excellent condition with intact silver piping and tassel with marron and blue velvet quarters. The front segment carries a bullion wired embroidered "Australian R.F.L" and a kangaroo, 1919 is embroidered on the peak. This was the first Australian representative team to tour New Zealand.
The cap is believed to have been presented to and owned by Easts' player Les Cubitt, who was a great friend of Wally Webb. Cubitt played 16 games for Glebe in 1911 and then 89 games for Easts 1913-1922. Les played all 4 Tests on the 1919 tour - scoring 17 tries in 3 consecutive tour matches. He was Australia's Kangaroo Tour captain in 1921-22.
The cap is available separately but is currently framed with the NSW cap and both, if secured would be ready framed.
