1907 was the first year of the Rugby League in NSW. Therefore this is the first NSW Cap. (Blue Cap with embroidered NSWRFL and Kangaroo - Made by J.Pearson King Street Arcade, Sydney). The rebel rugby league was formed in NSW in August 1907. A NSW team played against the touring NZ side ‘professional’ side, who were en route to Great Britain. While played by 2 teams representing unions who were to play ‘Northern union" – or Rugby league - rules. the matches were played under Rugby Union laws, as no one had yet had played the ‘new’ way. Rare cap from the Birth of Rugby League.
Cap is also dated 1908 and 1909 on the side, thus the owner played for NSW for these three seasons
These items for sale are surplus to the Easts group requirements and are being offered for sale to Roosters members and collectors of Rugby League history. This is a one off opportunity to procure some very rare items of league memorabilia.
