This is from the personal collection of former Wallaby Max Howell. The All Black jersey was worn by JB Smith 1947 (Max played in the1st Test of 1947, Smith also a centre didn’t and then the roles were reversed in 2nd Test) They did played each other in 1946 – Max was replacement for his 1st Test in Dunedin. JB Smith played just 9 games for New Zealand including 4 test – all against Australia in 1946 -1947 and 1949, yet ” Even though he subsequently played only occasionally for the All Blacks there is little argument that Smith rates among the greatest midfield players ever produced in New Zealand.” In his biography Bob Scott, a team-mate in the Kiwis, said of Smith: "I have seen a good many three quarters of all nations and I will say simply that Smith was the best of the lot, bar none." Smith was ineligible to tour South Africa in 1949 but was a member of the mighty Kiwi Army Side.
Jersey is currently framed and can be collected that way from Brisbane OR (more likely) can be removed from the frame and shipped anywhere world wide.
**If the jersey, once unframed, is discovered to be substantially damaged, such as the back cut off, for instance, then the sale will be set aside. If however it is a few staple holes, which is a reasonable expectation given it is framed then sale continues. Hopefully this allays some fears expressed by interested parties.**
Comes with a letter of authenticity from Max's family.
