A 1971 Australian Wallaby Test Jersey. This is the # 15 jersey from the controversial series played in Australia against a backdrop of violent anti-apartheid demonstrations. Arthur McGill (Drummoyne/NSW) was the Australian fullback for the three Tests. Arthur played 23 Test from 1968 -1973. The jersey has some slight staining but appears to be in very good condition. Made by Westmont by McCosker Byrne ALL COTTON. The green plastic number has been sewn onto the back. Features the Australian Coat of Arms, Rugby Union 1971. Australia lost the series 3 – 0. The jersey has been consigned from South Africa. This is a rare artefact from the tumultuous period where sport/politics and world events collided. Each auction will remain OPEN for 5 minutes after the last bid has been made In the final stages, do not solely rely upon emails to advise if you have been overbid, delays with servers can occur – please check the actual auction site..
